Nelson Bubble Lamp
George Nelson office — Herman Miller / Modernica, USA
Nelson Bubble Lamps combine a fine ribbed structure with a pale translucent skin, bringing soft light and distinct volumes to a room.
A lighting family from 1952
Developed in George Nelson's office, the lamps use a wire frame covered with a translucent plastic coating. Their gentle appearance should not be confused with an ordinary paper lantern.
A shape in daylight and after dark
Round, flat and elongated bodies create different effects above a table. Ribs give the surface rhythm. Illuminated, the whole volume becomes prominent; in daylight its contour takes the lead.
Match the room's height
A flatter form can suit a dining area, while a taller body needs more vertical space. Check hanging height and sightlines. Timber, textiles and matt walls complement the quiet surface.
