LC3 Grand Confort Sofa

Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Jeanneret — Cassina, Italy (licensed production)

The LC3 places generous cushions inside a visible metal frame, separating the supporting structure from the soft volumes.

Rethinking the club chair

Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand developed the Grand Confort furniture in 1928. Their idea of an exposed frame around upholstered blocks also informs the sofa versions.

Cushions within an outline

Metal lines remain on the outside while seat, back and arms form distinct volumes. Smooth leather sharpens their edges; textured fabric gives a softer effect.

Work with the proportions

A low table and rug can bring the seating group together. Allow for depth and circulation. LC2 and LC3 have different proportions, so compare measurements and try the seat rather than treating the names as interchangeable.
