Nuage Bookshelf
Charlotte Perriand — Cassina, Italy (licensed production)
Charlotte Perriand's Nuage turns storage into a spatial composition through alternating open compartments, closed surfaces and shifting rhythms.
An observation in Japan
Perriand's Nuage designs refer to shelving arrangements she saw in Kyoto. The idea of a cloud-like structure developed into several versions rather than one fixed bookcase.
Open and closed in balance
Shelves, dividers and, on some versions, sliding fronts create a layered arrangement. Books and objects change that composition in use. Materials and installation depend on the model.
Let the contents contribute
Place heavier books low down and leave space between groups. Coloured fronts can connect with the room's palette. For use as a divider, check the rear finish and approved installation; not every configuration is freestanding.
